The Dulins Dodgers complete sweep
of National Perfect Game Events.
FORT MYERS, Fla. -
The Dulins Dodgers knocked off the Big Stix Gamers
by a score of 7-6 in the 14U BCS Finals. The Dodgers went
wire-to-wire winning all 8 games they played. The Gamers would grab
2 runs in the top of the first before the Dodgers would score 4 runs
in the bottom of the frame to grab the early lead, 4-2. But,
over the next 4 innings the Big Stix would chip away and grab a 6-4
lead heading to the bottom of the 5th inning. In the bottom of
the 5th the Dodgers would have a big, 3-run inning, to take the
lead for good, taking the title by a score of 7-6. The inning was
capped by a 3-run double by Josh Cooley (2013, Horn Lake HS, TN).
The most valuable pitcher was Brett Hanewich (2013, Bradenton HS, Fla)
of the Dodgers. For the tournament, Hanewich pitched 10 innings gave up 4
earned runs on 6 hits. He also had 2 K's and didn't walk a batter. He also
pitched 2 2/3 innings in the championship game to earn the save.
The MVP of the Tournament was Josh Cooley. Cooley had a huge day en
route to the Dodgers winning the tournament. In two games today, Cooley
went a combined 3-for-4 with 3 doubles, a walk, and 9 RBI's to lead Dulins.
For the tournament Cooley was 5- for-11 with 3 doubles, 10 RBI's,
5 runs scored, 4 walks, one home run, and one steal.

Former Major League Manager Terry Bevington
We are thrilled to announce that we have sent a press release today to confirm
the addition of former Major League Manager Terry Bevington to the Dulins
Dodgers 09 Summer Staff. Coach Bevington brings 30 years experience in
Professional Baseball to the Dulins Dodgers Staff. The entire Dodger Family
agrees with Tim Dulin when he stated that, "We are extremely excited that Coach
Bevington has agreed to work with all the Dulins Dodgers Teams this summer. We
are indeed lucky to have him coach and teach our players. He brings an extensive
backgound that will be beneficial to our players both on and off the field."
Catcher Terry Bevington was selected by the New York Yankees in the 4th round
of the 1974 amateur draft. He played seven seasons in the minors, with the Yankees
and Milwaukee Brewers organizations. After his playing career ended, he was a
minor league manager in the Brewers system for seven seasons, winning 5 titles
in 7 years before joining the Chicago White Sox organization. The Sox made him
a coach in 1989. In 1995, he replaced Gene Lamont as the team's skipper. He posted
a 222-214 record in two and a half seasons at the club's helm and coached in the 97
All-Star Game. In 1998, he joined the Toronto Blue Jays organization and was their
third base coach from 1999 to 2001. He coached for Team USA in the
2003 Baseball World Cup.
Coach Bevington brings a total of 30 years of Professional Baseball experience to the
Dodgers. He states that, "He is excited and honored to have the opportunity to give
something back to a class organization such as the Dulins Dodgers. The entire Dulins
organization ranks with the very best baseball organizations around and the Dulins
Dodgers Teams are as good as any in the country."
